All 12 of our dogs over the past decade have been insane carrot caniseurs. They have all even preferred carrots to a raw bison bone! And don't even think about eating broccoli stalks in the presence of these yahoos...they'd tackle you to sink their teeth into that delicious greeny goodness!
This canine love for carrots has created a small dilemma...I can't ever eat a carrot in peace.
And all attempts at nibbling on carrots have become increasingly problematic after I-in a flash of brilliance-taught Mr. Beah to hit me with his paw to get a treat. Funnier still was that as I was training this behavior I turned to mr smrp and said "I am going to regret this trick, aren't I?" He just laughed and helped me reinforce Mr. Monsteh Beah to keep on hitting. Yep...that mr smrp is a keeper :)
I have slowly given up my carrot snacking habit because I never end up getting more than a bite or two while almost the entire carrot ends up being gobbled by the pups. I once even tried to hide in the bathroom to eat a carrot during doggie mealtime. No luck-Mr. Elephant Ears Beah heard the crunching and wouldn't leave the door until I came out and gave him my carrot.
If you haven't figured out who runs the household around here by now then we have a problem ;)
Anyway, I like to believe that I'm a fairly smart human but sometimes the most obvious answer eludes us for a while before smacking us upside the head.
Yesterday I wondered why I had not thought of slicing up one carrot per being and sitting down as a carrot obsessed family to share?
Voila! The perfect solution and I can now eat carrots again while enjoying a little quality carrot time with my furry buddies.
Anybody else have a similar dilemma? I'd love to know that I'm not the only one out here in blogland who is completely manipulated by my fuzzy family :)
Here are some pictures I thought were worth sharing of our most recent Carroty Adventure.

My dogs run the house too. I can't sit down to eat anything without some very sad faces staring me down. Love the little booties on the dogs, very cute. Glad you solved your carrot dilemma and don't have to hide in the bathroom anymore!
What took you so long! Good grief woman. It's a good thing that you got everything figured out. Love the booties. Hope all is well. Any news?
Aw, I love the pictures!
Emma & Rowan are both crazy over carrots. They'll get extremely demanding of them if we don't share. We can't bring out a bag of veggies or chop veggies in the kitchen without them giving us their brain boring stares.
That image of you hiding in the bathroom made me LOL. :)
Mickey's very favorite treat is carrots. He gets a crazed gleam in his eyes when I get one out. We call him our miniature horse.
I've tried to feed carrots to my dogs and they'll have none of it. But they sure come running when they hear me unbag a loaf of bread and start cutting. They love bread!
