Introducing Izzy's very own Huckleberry

First a quick thanks to all who have emailed asking how we are doing-we are doing well and we are still in Colorado! But we'll be in CA as soon as the temperatures in Nevada drop low enough to transport the herd :)

Now on to the fun news!

Do you all remember that the main reason we adopted Miss Itty Bitty Izzy B was so that she could be a playmate for little Jesse Guppie?

Well-our plan didn't quite work out as we had hoped:  Izzy is a liiiiittle bit too rough in her play style and Jesse seems to only want to play with Bear. Silly dogs.

So what's a smrp and mr smrp to do when A + B does not equal C?

Why...adopt Izzy her very own Huckleberry of course...

Please help us welcome our newest family member: Huckleberry!

Huck's first hike in Colorado...we're not in Texas anymore!

What a goof ball!

Ummm...do all black floppy eared dogs like to perch on tables?

A little about Huck: He is almost a year old, some kind of retriever/border collie mix (we think), and as sweet and silly and bouncy as anyone could want! He was picked up as a stray in Houston, Texas with a horrible bone infection on his right hind leg so he was scheduled to be euthanized.

There are just too many homeless dogs, cats, horses, and more in the world and not enough homes-the reality of making these tough decisions of who lives and who dies is a horrible one.

Luckily the kill shelter contacted Mountain Dog Rescue on his euthanasia day and gave them 2 hours to decide: thank goodness they decided he was just too sweet to die that day.

He received wonderful care at a local vet clinic and in two weeks his infection was cleared up and he was ready to find a forever home. We were lucky enough to be chosen as his new family and he was transported to us about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks so much to Huck's foster dad, Kalen, and to all of the amazing folks (Emily, Jan, Karoline, Mary Alice, and more!) at Mountain Dog Rescue for trusting us to be the right family for Huckleberry-we love him so very much and he and Izzy are already BFFs :)
